What time does mail arrive and leave at University of Richmond?

Mail Arrives

Mail Leaves

Mail is picked up by the USPS at 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Anything dropped in mail slots after that time will leave the next day. Any mail dropped after 4:30 PM on Friday will not leave campus until Monday afternoon.

Can faculty and staff receive personal packages on campus?

Faculty and staff are not permitted to receive personal packages to the Campus Post Office unless they pay for a rented mailbox. These packages will be returned to sender if it is deemed to be a personal package.

What mailing address do we use?

It is important that you use your campus address as to not cause any confusion to the courier when they deliver items to campus. Only those departments in the Heilman Center are permitted to use the 410 Westhampton Way address.

What services do you offer at the Campus Post Office?

We offer a variety of services that a regular USPS Post Office does, such as: overnight mail, priority mail (2-3 days), insured mail, certified mail, delivery confirmation, and international mail. We also sell stamps both individually and in books.

We do not offer money orders! At this time, we do not offer FED EX, UPS, Airborne or any other carrier. However, you may drop pre-labeled off at the Campus Post Office or leave them in your mailroom for pickup.

What if my item is too large for delivery?

We will contact the receiver to make arrangements for pickup from the Campus Post Office. If you are unable to move the item, please contact Events and Setups to assist with moving the items.

Rules for Faculty & Staff Mailing

  • Please separate all on and off-campus mail in the appropriate mail bins in your designated mailroom. This prevents us from affixing postage to letters designed to remain on campus.
  • When using inter-departmental mail envelopes, please use the building name and the department in which the person works.
  • All mail or packages that require postage, should be accompanied by a Ship Request Form.
  • Off-campus letters (regular sized #10 envelopes) that need to be sealed should have flaps down, flat against the envelope. Our machine can seal and stamp the letters at the same time.
  • Please separate international mail from domestic (US) mail. International mail requires additional postage. Due to increased security measures, any international piece that weighs more than 1 pound needs to have a customs form attached to the mail piece.
  • All flats should be sealed by the sender. Because of the thickness and the location of the flap, it needs to sealed securely. Our machine does not have the ability to seal anything larger than a regular sized #10 envelope. Sometimes a small piece of tape or a clasp will not do an effective job.
